our storyOur learning program began as a family daycare in the home of our founder Mrs. Evelyn Frye in 2001 as an outreach ministry of Word of Life Church of God in Christ. Joined by two of her daughters, Mrs. Marcia Webster and Mrs. Andrea Coleman, Seeds of Wisdom provided a nurturing and stimulating environment for students and a supportive and encouraging experience for parents.
In 2002, Seeds of Wisdom moved from its in-home location to a new facility in northwest Rochester at Word of Life Church of God in Christ. Students were grouped by age level in welcoming classrooms and challenged by engaging curriculum and lessons. As the program continued to grow, in 2004, families expressed a need to begin a kindergarten program. Classroom space for expanding the learning program was provided by the generosity of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in southwest Rochester. Through this open door, the first Kindergarten class graduated in the spring of 2005. That following year, first grade was added, and in successive years grades 2-5 were added. The program also included a homeschool co-op for middle and high school students led by Mrs. Simona Baias. In 2009, Seeds of Wisdom again relocated to another facility in northwest Rochester, which provided a greater opportunity to grow and expand the learning opportunity for students and families. Here the the learning program increased its enrollment, strengthened its preschool program, and developed a strong music program for the kindergarten and elementary students. In 2014, Seeds of Wisdom moved into a new facility purchased by its parent organization Word of Life Church of God in Christ in southeast Rochester, MN. Today Seeds of Wisdom continues to deliver its distinctive learning program through the daycare, preschool, and academy, in a structured and stimulating environment, where students are encouraged and supported in developing academically, socially, and spiritually. |
planting seeds . . . growing lives! |
statement of faithWE BELIEVE that the Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
WE BELIEVE that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30). WE BELIEVE the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25, I Corinthians 15:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11). WE BELIEVE that people are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and that only by God’s grace and through faith are we saved (John 3:16-21; John 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8,9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5). WE BELIEVE the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of death (John 5:28, 29). WE BELIEVE the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12, 13; Galatians 3:26-28). WE BELIEVE the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13, 14; I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19, 20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18). WE BELIEVE that the family is a holy union between husband and wife, who share their lives together in love and mutual respect for each other in the likeness of Christ, and who as parents, in the same love and respect, bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Genesis 2:21-25; Eph. 6:4) |
